Northrop Grumman is a leading global aerospace and defense technology company. They provide a wide range of products, services, and solutions, primarily to the U.S. Department of Defense and intelligence community. The company is a major provider of space systems, military aircraft, and advanced weapons, with a focus on advanced technologies and digital transformation, and has a global presence.
Q1 2025 sales decreased by $665 million, or 7%, to $9.468 billion, primarily due to lower sales at Space Systems (wind-down of certain programs) and Aeronautics Systems. This was partially offset by higher sales at Mission Systems and Defense Systems.
Operating income decreased $498 million, or 46%, to $573 million, primarily due to a $477 million loss provision on the B-21 program at Aeronautics Systems. This was partially offset by higher operating income at Defense Systems and a $57 million increase in the FAS/CAS operating adjustment.
Net earnings decreased $463 million, or 49%, to $481 million, primarily due to the B-21 loss provision, a $38 million reduction in the non-operating FAS pension benefit, and higher interest expense, partially offset by a $90 million decrease in income tax expense.
