Operating revenues increased by $1,028 million, or 19.0%, to $6,430 million for the three months ended June 30, 2025, compared to the prior year period. This growth was primarily attributable to recent acquisitions, particularly Stericycle, and higher yield in Collection and Disposal businesses.
Income from operations increased by $142 million to $1,151 million for the three months ended June 30, 2025, but the operating margin decreased from 18.7% to 17.9% of revenues. While operating expenses as a percentage of revenue improved from 60.9% to 59.7%, selling, general and administrative expenses increased from 9.3% to 10.8% of revenues, primarily due to acquisition-related costs.
Net income attributable to Waste Management, Inc. for the six months ended June 30, 2025, decreased to $1,363 million from $1,388 million in the prior year period. This decline was largely due to a significant increase in net interest expense to $464 million from $266 million, primarily related to additional debt incurred to finance the Stericycle acquisition.
